Bonnie Lee-Richards Visits The Seeds Of Hope Orphanage In Bali

***We no longer support The Seeds Of Hope Orphanage in Bali which includes the volunteers program at that Orphanage. Please contact us to see which Orphanages we currently support, Aug 2010***

Hi Harriet

I just wanted to email you following our trip to Bali – which was just incredible, what an amazing place! We also got engaged while we were there, I had no idea, so it was just incredible.

I visited Seeds of Hope on our last day in Bali (caught a bit of the Bali Belly and thus was delayed) and had a great visit. I met Foza and a lovely 17yr old whose name I can’t quite remember who gave us a tour around the orphanage. What a lovely group of children. We took a few toys with us – some foam aeroplanes, the type you can put together which managed to mesmerize the younger boys and entertain them for a while. We also took jenga and a child’s badminton set for a bit of fun. I also took some flashcards, which were kind of a game of dominoes with English words on them so I thought they might be useful for helping with their English while having a bit of fun. I think I managed to collect about 18 toothbrushes, tons of toothpaste, combs and paracetamol before visiting so I gave that to Foza (the only items the children quite fairly weren’t interested in!). We also left a monetary donation with Foza which she was very grateful for. The visit really was wonderful and I’d like to thank you for the suggestion of visiting in the first place. I took down the 17yr olds email who was keen to keep in touch on facebook so it will be so lovely to speak to him once in a while.

We will be spending our honeymoon in Bali in 18mths-2yrs and really look forward to returning.

I have attached a few photos of the children as you asked, I have a video too of them playing their instruments but I’m not quite sure how to get it to you.

Best wishes

Bonni
