Volunteer Your Time Teaching Kids In Bali

If you are looking for a list of companies that provide a service to volunteer in Bali please visit our FAQ on companies that provide volunteering services.

More volunteering opportunities in BaliThere are many other Orphanages that need help, if you would like to volunteer to help children in Bali and are looking for Orphanages to help take a look at the list of Orphanages here.

You can help by:

  1. Sponsoring a child.
  2. Volunteering (unpaid) your time while you are traveling, play games, teach English, or help out in the nursery; studies show that even playing with a baby for one afternoon a month will give them warmth and love necessary for development.
  3. Bringing donations. New and used toys, clothes, and household appliances are needed. Children’s clothes are especially needed, but is also happy to receive adult clothes, as there are many needed people in the area.

I am a social worker/counsellor and have a very small amount of Indonesian language. Do I require any special skills to teach in Bali?

  • Admin said:

    Hi June,

Not at all. Indonesian will help but you will find most orphanages and schools in Bali are run by people who have at least one person who can speak English. Simply spending time playing games or music would be greatly appreciated. If you are interested in helping the Seeds Of Hope Orphanage you can email Sandra directly. She speaks perfect English. There are also many other orphanages in Bali but we only support the Seeds Of Hope Orphanage.

If you need more help feel free to contact me on 0845 388 9501.

Hello! I am a teacher here in the states, I also am a life advocate and teach fetal development. I don’t have much money but thought perhaps this could be a wonderful opportunity to get my church together with some of us and do a fundraiser to go over there and help! I would like to present this with it already “mapped” out just in case it is a go! I am thinking a year or few years from now I want this to be actually happening. Please send me more information on what we can do to make this happen, and details of what we need to know. I have never left the country and speak one language. Could we bring children? (our kids)? Is that smart or perhaps a certain age requirement? If yes then what are the dangers compared to the U.S. (if it is too much risk then just say no to the kids coming lol). I would love more info, prices, time, what it takes for a group of us to come help with the kids at the orphanage. (whether we go through your org. or not, any help or info is great!) Perhaps we can build another orphanage if there is a lack of them there, but there would have to be workers willing to take care of it (that live there) when we left of course. Please let me know how we can help. Thank you. Email me – JC_Life_advocate@hotmail.com

Hi my name is Alma Mainz. I just moved to Bali 7 months ago from the States. I was a dental hygienist back home. I was wondering if you could use me. I could come teach the kids about the importance of flossing/brushing/fluoride, and do a demonstration. I would like to see that all the kids have brushes and floss. would probably talk for 45 min? How many kids are there? Are you interested in this service? Kindly let me know. Thank you, Alma

    Hi there,
I am interested in giving back to Bali and the wonderful people of Indonesia through volunteering in Bali with both myself and my wife. We would ultimately like to volunteer with ourselves and our 4 children but only after a couple of initial volunteering placements/missions. We have both experience in caring for and teaching disadvantaged children and young people and children with disabilities. I have a number of undergraduate Certificate,Diploma and Bachelor qualifications in Education,Youthwork, OHS and Vocational Education and Training. I am also in the process of completing my Masters of Learning management and transitioning into my PhD in early 2015. Both myself and my wife have varied life and work experience in a multitude of different areas from childcare to construction and project management, humanitarian assistance and business. Initially we would like to come for a short term such as 1.5 to 2 weeks and if that goes well come back and do further volunteering with our family. I am learning Arabic and have taught English as a second language from beginners to university level before. I currently teach into the vocational education and training sector in Australia and am the lead teacher and specialist for Youth work, Community Development and services, Life Coaching, Child Protection and Child, Youth and Family Intervention for the largest training provider in Australia. I have also developed, sourced funding, set up and am running a variety of Educational, Health, Vocational Training and Agricultural projects in war torn areas of South Sudan so am not afraid to get my hands dirty and am wanting to be on the ground helping wherever possible. Please I do apologise for giving you my life story but am keen and eager to make positive changes in people’s lifes so if you know of anyway you can help me and my wife to go and help in Bali or elsewhere I would love to hear from you. Thanks – Rick! :D
